Resident of Georgia for Thirty Years
Mr. Bruce Tilley completed
his formal education at the University of North Carolina. He than accepted a
position as a Trooper with the North Carolina Highway Patrol. His career with
this State agency spanned the years of 1951 through 1959.
In 1959 Mr. Tilley accepted a
position with Gay & Taylor, Inc. At that time the Corporation was a Regional
Independent Insurance Adjusting firm. Beginning his career as an adjuster,
learning and then adjusting complicated case issues, he progressed from
adjusting claims through the many management levels to rise to the position of
President and Chief Executive Officer.
During his management tenure
with Gay & Taylor, Inc, he grew the Corporation into a national firm and then
into an international firm through the acquisition of Gay & Taylor, Inc., by
Swiss Re-Insurance, Zurich Switzerland. Swiss Re-Insurance already owned an
independent adjusting firm, The Thomas Howell Group. The Thomas Howell Group
served all of Europe and the Far East countries, with some offices in the United
States. With the acquisition of Gay & Taylor, Inc., Zurich Insurance Company
now had a greater portion of the world market of insurance adjusting. Mr.
Tilley was then appointed to the Board of Directors of The Thomas Howell Group,
with their main office in London, England.
During his corporate career,
he had made it a point to familiarize himself with the functions of all
departments of the Corporation as well as becoming acquainted with the personnel
that ran each department. He was very active in the quality control of the
Corporation as it was his goal to make sure that they gave their clients and
customers the best possible product available in the insurance industry.
